Included in the former municipality of Naaldwijk is the nature area "De Wollebrand". Previously this included a lake which was inhabited by numerous fish and used for swimming, but this was partially drained in 2004 in order to create wetland. The fish were transferred to the nearby canal, assisted by many volunteers, although many of the fish didn't survive. The former lake is now gradually changing to wetland as was intended.
