The accommodations are large and in good condition as are the bathaccommodations. They were renovated in 1999 and make use of the features of the old building. New carpet, Victorian furniture, mahogany TV units, leather armchairs, heritage baths, but modern, remote colour TV.

The bar and restaurant are situated off the Lobby and there is also a covered courtyard style Coffee Shop. They were also reshopd in 1999.

This is a grand old hotel with a lot of old world character providing quality hotel in a central location. For guests driving, there is a car park next door.

Located beside Derwent river, overlooking marina at New Town Bay. 20 a short time from Hobart airport, 3 1/2 hour drive to Spirit of Tasmania terminal at East Devonport.A quiet corner tucked away on the banks of the River Derwent - its so peaceful that its hard to believe you're only a short time away from the main highway into historic Hobart. A short drive or bus ride from the door - explore the city - Sullivan's Cove and the small boat docks, Salamanca Place, galleries, museums - all only a ten-minute drive away. Drive another 15 a short time and you're at the top of Mount Wellington and looking up the Derwent valley, across the river to the hills and bays of the south east, and down the river to the ocean.
